My Little Crinkanope: A True Tale of Love and Death During the Great Depression
Triggered by an end-of-life confession, My Little Crinkanope uses original correspondence, historical documents, memory and imagination to create a portrait of a complex and idealistic woman who blamed herself for her husband's death during the Great Depression. A tale of two ordinary people who face extreme adversity, this journey into the spirit of early 20th Century America gives us a deeper understanding of the emotional experience of being a woman in those years as well as the complexity of familial and sexual relationships. My Little Crinkanope explores the nature of storytelling and memory, the impact of popular culture and technology on individual lives, the trans-generational residue of secrets, and the power of confession. My Little Crinkanope was inspired by the work of renowned memoirist and Virginia Woolf scholar Louise DeSalvo and is seeking representation.
